To change your legal name in Ohio you must,
File a legal name change petition with your county's probate court
State that you have been a resident of the county for 1 year
Attach a certified copy of your birth certificate
A hearing will be set with a probate judge
Then, you have 30 days to post notice of your name change in a county-wide newspaper

If the judge grants your name change, you will be presented with a certified and signed order. Keep this safe as you will need it to obtain new or change legal documents.
